I can’t believe we are already coming up on Thanksgiving. It seems just yesterday that we were celebrating New Years 2025.
I suspect it has something to do with my schedule these days. I continue to stay quite busy with work, volunteer, and family duties.
The most recent time sink has been my company’s conversion from Quickbooks Desktop to Quickbooks Online. The conversion started the last week of October and I’m just now starting to come up for air. Quickbooks Online should work out fine, but some nasty conversion issues, along with having to learn how to use new bookkeeping software for the first time in over two decades has been a challenge.
My company has been picking up new customers. Recently, I drove up to Spring Hill to help a very nice lady get all her pictures and other important information off her old computer. While I was there, I taught her how to rip CDs so she can listen to the music she has while driving. Her new car doesn’t have a CD player.
Some of our existing clients have needed to get new computers or upgrade their old ones to Windows 11. I’ve been involved in both types of projects over the last several months and I’ve got several more queued up for the coming weeks.
I’ve also worked on refreshing a number of websites for our clients over the last couple of years.
So much for retiring from work.
As I’ve indicated in previous Notes, I’ve gotten much more involved at the unit level with scouts. Four of my grandchildren are registered and my scouting this year has involved multiple camping trips and my first summer camp in two decades.
A few weeks ago I drove to Trilby so one of my granddaughters could complete her Horsemanship merit badge. A couple of weeks before that two granddaughters and I went to Naples for a camping trip in a bird sanctuary. Earlier this month, we attended an Eagle Scout ceremony for the first girl in their troop to earn the Eagle Scout rank.
The scout troops have some cool outings planned for this coming year. It is going to be fun. I’m not sure if I’ll be attending summer camp as a leader this year, but I won’t rule it out at this point.
Things are no quieter at church. We are already gearing up for our choir’s Christmas program.
I’m not quite sure what the rest of 2025 will bring, but I can say with some certainty that I will stay busy.
Have a very safe and Happy Thanksgiving holiday this week.
Rob
