Into the Holiday Season

The “Holiday Street Parade“ will be coming to New Port Richey on December 13th.  This is New Port Richey’s Christmas Parade.  The Holiday Rotary Club has been instrumental in making this parade happen each year.   Consider this a special shout out and “Thank You” to the hard working members of the Holiday Rotary Club.

The Riverlights Boat Parade is this coming Saturday.  Originally organized and shepherded by Craig Carmichael, it has continued on after his untimely death in 2013.  All of us have one or more muses that push us to think of things in different ways and Craig was one of those people for me.  He had a dream of a New Port Richey far better than the one he lived in and encouraged everyone he met to work to make our town a better place.   If you are anywhere near New Port Richey Saturday night, you need to find a place along the river to watch as decorated boats come up river from Port Richey to Sims Park and back.

Immediately after the Boat Parade, Greater New Port Richey Main Street is throwing the “Ultimate Office Party“, apparently based on the TV series “Mad Men”.  Acting like one of the “Mad Men” depicted on the TV show is not my scene, so I’ll take a pass on this one.  I will give Main Street’s HMA group credit for organizing a party.  If this sounds like fun to you, give Main Street a call at 842-8066 for more information.

Much more my speed will be the West Pasco Chamber of Commerce Holiday mixer on Thursday evening.  That one is always a good time and an excellent reason to be a Chamber member.

Add in a couple of Eagle Scout presentations in the next couple of weeks, next Sunday afternoon’s Richey Concert Band Christmas program, and everything else going on, I am going to be ready to spend a few days around Christmas simply trying to unwind.

Just so I won’t forget to say so as the season progresses:  “Merry Christmas”.   If you celebrate one of the other holidays that come this time of year, I won’t be offended if you offer a “Happy (fill in the blank with the holiday of your choice)” in return.
