It is hard to believe how fast Christmas has come up this year. It seems like just yesterday that we were celebrating Thanksgiving with our son at the table for the first time in 20 years. It was a great day.
Urgent family matters kept me from participating in this year’s Christmas Boat and Street parades. By all accounts, both were excellent and very well attended. A special shout out to Regan and the Hub team for organizing all the Christmas trees in the park and around Orange Lake.
Saturday night’s golf cart parade this past Saturday was amazing. There were over 200 golf carts in the parade and people were lined up with folding chairs along Grand to watch the parade. I’m still amazed at how popular golf carts have become for driving around New Port Richey.
Another mode of transportation has come to town and I predict that it will be VERY popular. Mike Ottaway has picked up a pair of quadracycles that you can rent by the hour. I’ve seen these in other cities and they are seriously cool.
I don’t know what Mike is charging, but I’m sure I’ll be finding out. The one in the picture looks perfect for taking a ride with some of my grandkids. This is the sort of “out of the box” fun that you can find in downtown New Port Richey.
I’m looking for lots of exciting things in 2022. The Hacienda will be opening. The Chasco Fiesta will be returning. With a little bit of luck and lots of folks doing their part, we’ll finally put the pandemic in our rear view mirror.
On behalf of Carolyn and myself, I’d like to wish each and every one of you a Very Merry Christmas and a Safe and Happy New Year.
Rob Marlowe, Mayor
